A man in Jacksonville calls his son in San Diego the day before Thanksgiving and says, 'I hate to ruin your day, but I have to tell you that your mother and I are divorcing; forty-five years of misery is enough.
'Pop, what are you talking about?' the son screams.
'We can't stand the sight of each other any longer,' the father says. 'We're sick of each other, and I'm sick of talking about this, so you call your sister in Denver and tell her.'
Frantic, the son calls his sister, who explodes on the phone. 'Like heck they're getting divorced,' she shouts, 'I'll take care of this,'
She calls Jacksonville immediately, and screams at her father, 'You are NOT getting divorced. Do not do a single thing until I get there. I am calling my brother back, and we will both be there tomorrow. Until then, don't do a thing, DO YOU HEAR ME?' and hangs up.
The old man hangs up his phone and turns to his wife. 'Okay,' he says, 'they're coming for Thanksgiving and paying their own way.'
Established in 2005. Today people are way too busy. It seems like cheating, but this is a place where you can keep up with what is going on in our lives. Enjoy!

House Tour Pt 5

Quick Update
I know I haven't posted an update in what seems like forever. This is just a quick recap of what has been keeping the Shaw family so busy lately:
- Work, work, work
- Unpacking the book shelves (and sneezing from dusty books)
- Unpacking the computer desk (almost done!)
- Washing bottles (I am weaning Jacob off of nursing so there are lots more bottles to wash)
- Planning Jacob's birthday party for next month
- Shopping for curtain hardware and decorations for the house
- Sewing curtains with my mommy
- Sewing a duvet cover for the guest room with my mommy
- Planning the bed skirt for the guest bed
- Picking up Jacob's toys 4+ times a day
- Church
- Youth
- Watching Jacob move around more
- Watching Garnet run from Jacob
- Enjoying my new house
- Washing Jacob's clothes (but not folding them; I can't find time for that, ugh!)
- Keeping the house ready for guests at any time (this is all Adam wants from me; for our house to be guest-ready at all times and I'm happy to do it for him, it just takes time)
- Making my bed everyday (gold star for me-that is a big thing!)
- Hanging up my clothes everyday (gold star again-basic things, but big for me)
- Loving my son to death
- Sitting on the floor while Jacob climbs over me and plays
- Listening to Jacob talk to himself making mostly just the "da" sound
- Listening to Jacob throw a few "mommas" into his conversation
- Stopping work because Jacob pulled himself up on my chair and when whining didn't get my attention, he tried "momma"
- Loving my husband
- Tolerating my dog and learning to love him for what he is
- Wondering how many nights Garnet is going to wake me up snoring
- Wishing I could get my behind in gear to walk everyday
- Juggling just the daily tasks and trying to be more efficient so I can do things like walking
- Getting up (most days) before Jacob so that I am showered and ready for my day (hair & makeup) when he wakes up (the day goes a lot better when that is done early)
- Going to baby showers for Jenny and Stephanie
- Enjoying my life, wishing for a little more time, but not wanting to change a thing!

House Tour Part 4
My guest room. It is a mess, but a pretty yellow color. My mom is coming over this weekend so that we can sew curtains and make a bedspread for this bed so hopefully it will be organized soon. Right now it is where we put all of our breakable stuff that we haven't unpacked yet.
The hallway-I'm standing in the doorway to the guest room. That nook is painted the same color blue as my living room wall.
Jacob's big boy room aka the junk room. This room is just past the guest room. We didn't paint it 'cause it is the room that Jacob will move into when he moves to a big boy bed so I'll paint it then. For now, it is where we hide all of our unpacked boxes so that our house looks somewhat organized.
The door closest is Jacob's big boy room and the door at the end is Jacob' room, but that tour will have to wait for another day.
Jacob/guest bathroom. This room is half-way done. I need to find a shower curtain and then I can paint. That frog on the wall is for bath toys.

Cutest Giraffe God Ever Created Attends Fall Festival at Local Church
When Jacob gets up from his nap, I'm going to try and get some posed pictures in the backyard. Since I know you all love my son so much and want tons of pictures of him, you can download high-resolution giraffe pictures here: http://picasaweb.google.com/AdamAndAngela/GiraffeAtTheFallFestival11208#

House Tour Part 3
My kitchen, breakfast nook and Garnet's room. I love my island. I have just about the same amount of cabinet space as the old house and more counter space. We hope to get rid of Garnet's crate soon. He did, however, get out of it Friday and eat some cough drops and got some on my carpet, so he isn't quite read to be trusted.
The view out the sliding glass door. We paid extra for this view and it was worth every penny. We have a overflow retention area behind our house and a forest behind that and another retention area behind that so we will not ever have any houses behind us. It is great!
Standing in the entrance to the kitchen (the dining room is at my back) looking at the kitchen and family room.
My pretty track lighting above the island (we replaced what was there).
Breakfast nook lighting (again, new).
Our family room. I love my red wall and the TV looks so good mounted. There is room between the couch and the sliding glass door and it is a perfect spot for Jacob's toys.

House Tour Pt 2
And the house tour continues:
My pretty, green laundry room. Since we painted the entire house before we moved in, we were going to paint the laundry room as well. We had left-over master bedroom paint from our First Street house, so I thought it would look nice in the laundry room. I like it. (The laundry room is off of the hallway and you have to go through it to get to the garage.)

The living room. The front door is just to the right and the dinning room is just beyond the door. We have 2 book shelves and will have a couch in there. We have a nice computer desk that we just bought, but the top had a crack so we had to order another top. Hopefully this room will be put together soon.
The dinning room. I'm standing in the living room to take the picture. That is all of my china on the table. The living and dining room are all junked up, but when Adam finished putting together the furniture this weekend, hopefully these rooms will get cleaned up.
That is the ugly front entry light. It is still there. We are going to put in a recessed light and then add 2 more over the computer (the living room has no lighting). My goal is to have that done by the end of the month. We'll see. There is a lot on the "honey-do" list.
I hear my little one waking up from his nap. More house pictures later . . .

Preview
OK, so I have been ordered by the gramma to put up giraffe pictures. No more house tour for now; only giraffes. Jacob was the cutest giraffe for our church's fall festival this past Sunday. Right now Jacob doesn't want me on the computer so I only have time for a preview. Lots more pictures to come. Enjoy!
Stocking Up
Jacob and I went and voted (he got a sticker, but I didn't put it on him because he would have eaten it) and then went to WalMart to stock-up on baby food. I bought 45 jars! It is so much cheaper at WalMart. The 3rd foods are $0.60 each and at Publix, on sale, they are $0.72 each. That savings adds up. I hate going to WalMart so I got 2 of every kind of veggie and meal and 4 of every fruit. I hope Jacob is hungry!

House Tour Part 1
Here is the first part of my house tour. We moved our stuff in so fast. Adam had made several trips to the house with our stuff from dad's house, so we just had the guys meet us at our new house. They had the pod completely unloaded in 45min! Sean and Matt got started putting up our new lights and then Matt (and Stephanie and the baby in her belly) stayed until almost dinner time and were a huge help getting everything else set up.
This is my ceiling. Adam was in the attic running the cords for the TV (the components are hidden in our closet and you see no wires) and shifted his weight and went through the ceiling. Ahhh, memories!

That is all the installation that fell when his foot went through.
My taped ceiling.
The TV with no cords showing (my red wall isn't really that red). I love how it looks; just wish the hole wasn't there. We are going to have an attic ladder put in and the attic covering right now is texture just like the ceiling so we are going to use that for the patch. It should be fixed sometime this month. I responded good. I laughed for 2min, then made sure Adam was ok and then laughed some more. No point in crying. It happens! =)
OK, so this isn't a picture of the house. It is my brother with his new Jeep. This is for you Juli (and anyone else who hasn't seen his newest car). My dad bought him the Ford Focus, then he took that back and tried to sell it and bought him the Dodge. The Focus didn't sell, so Micah gave dad back the truck, sold the Focus and bought the Jeep. It is really high. He drove me to church in it on Sunday and I had trouble getting in with my fitted jeans and heals on!
This one is for you too Juli. Who would have thought that our brother would ever wear these shoes?!? The story goes: he was at work in his boots and was going to the APK game and forgot a change of clothes. He didn't want to wear boots with his shorts, so he bought these and has worn them several times (he even wore a blue dress shirt, khaki shorts and these shoes to church this Sunday; just when I think I have him figured out, he does something like this).
I know this wasn't a real tour. Just a glimpse, but I have lots more pictures and will get them up in parts. Tune in next time for the living room and dining room (how exciting is that?!?).
I just want to say a big THANK YOU to all those who helped us move especially my mom who washed many dishes, Stephanie Metzler who dried many dishes and did way too much and stayed way too late, Sean Canada for helping to put up my pretty lights and Mr Matt Metzler for helping Adam so much - my house wouldn't look as pretty without you. Thanks so much. I love you guys!
