We're Here!

We made it to the beach. We left at about 9pm Saturday night and arrived at about 230am Sunday morning. It rained yesterday so after taking it easy in the morning and then taking a tour, we sat inside and waited for it to quit raining. We went swimming in the cold pool and Jacob's feet turned purple. Now we are rushing to fix breakfast (at 10am) and get out to the beach. There is a 60% chance of rain today, but only a 20% chance the rest of the week. I'll post pictures later today if it rains!

Aunt Juli

I love spending time with my Aunt Juli. She babysat me when mommy and daddy went out on a date for daddy's birthday. I like her a lot!

Bumbo

This thing is great! It is called a Bumbo (that is the brand; there are other types out there; this is just the one that was on sale). Jacob LOVES to sit and so we thought that he would really enjoy this. A therapist that Adam used to work with said that it is great to teach trunk control. Jacob enjoys it and will sit on the floor and watch tv. He is too cute. He looks like a little man in it!

watch out ladies...i'm a playa'

this is for miss hailey and possibly for the metzler baby if you are a girl:

dear hailey and maybe metzler baby girl,

i just want you to know what i am. i have to warn you first...i spent one sunday morning with rebekah dunn and now she is my girlfriend and i spent another sunday morning with ally and she is my girlfriend too. they are both 18 years old. they probably will not stick around until i am old enough to marry one of them, so i thought i would just let you know that i am a . . .

Toofers!

Now a word from Jacob - I have teeth coming in! After an ear infections and lots and lots of chewing on my hands, I finally have made some progress. I really don't know what a tooth is, but mommy is really excited about seeing this thing in my mouth. She says that she can feel bumps on my gums (what is gums? I'm so confused about what mommy is talking about). She puts this stuff in my mouth that tastes funny and I try and spit it out, but it doesn't work and it kind of does make me feel better. I LOVE chewing on my keys (or anything else I can get in my mouth). I can kind of pick them up and put them in my mouth. See...

Ahhhhhh

Jacob slept! Normally, Jacob ends up in our bed on his belly sometime around 6am. He starts to stir and we can't get him to sleep soundly on his back around that time, so we put him on his belly and it works so well (kind of like flipping a gator on his back)! Last night was the first night since I can remember that he made it the entire night in his cradle! He stirred around 3am and Adam held him for just a min to settle him back down and then nothing, not a peep! Hip, hip hooray!

Side note: the air in my dad's house came back on and is working so good so far!

The Shaw Family is Hot!

Last night my dad's air broke. We were at the Butschek's house hanging out and my dad called me and asked me to bring batteries home because the air was out again and he was hoping it was the thermostat. Well, the batteries didn't work and we even put our old thermostat up thinking that maybe his just dies and that didn't work. So as I write this, I'm sweating (and I've already had my shower! I feel bad for the person who sits beside me at church).

Adam, Jacob and I camped out in the living room on the floor (well, Jacob was in his pack-n-play) right under the fan with another floor fan blowing right on us and the french doors open on one side of the room and the windows open on the other. It wasn't bad at all. In fact, I had to put the sheet on...but it is bad now.

I got up early so that I could pack us up as we are going to spend the night at the McGuffin's house tonight (that is if they let us. I think they will. We asked last night and they said yes, but we decided to stay here because by the time we figured out that the air wasn't going to work it was already 1130!). Hopefully the air will get fixed Monday and we will be back then...we'll see...

Ice Skating

We went ice skating with the youth at RDV a couple of Sundays ago and had a blast! it had been so long since I had ice skated and I did pretty good right up until the end when I ate it - I hit the ice hard, my knee broke the fall and then I went "splat" right on my belly! It hurt and I have a nice bruise to show for it. Jacob did great and had a fun time hanging out with his buddy Luke and his future pal Hailey (she is still growing in her mommy's tummy).

6 months old

Jacob turn 6 months old yesterday. Man, time flies soooo fast! It is hard to believe that it has been 6 months since he was born. My mom called me yesterday morning and asked me if I remember what I was doing. I did - I was mad at Stacy because I was really thirsty and she took away my ice chips (I love you girl! I hope I wasn't too bad of a patient!).

Jacob is truly the light of my life. I cannot remember what it was like without him. He is so wonderful and so fun. I am daily amazed at how he is changing and growing. I love watching him learn new things.

He is asleep now, so I guess I better work on a parent letter for the youth retreat - it is hard to type while holding him. =)

Bobcat

Ok, so now that we are in Zellwood, we get to experience all sorts of wildlife (that doesn't include our crazy horse of a dog!). I saw an owl the other day and that was really neat. He looked like Owl from Winnie the Pooh! The other night, I was in the kitchen looking out at the lake and saw this thing walking on the beach and I thought "that is a scrawny dog, no that is a big cat, no . . . that is the bobcat!" Pure craziness! My dad told us he saw one. I took a picture, but I was really far away so I zoomed it in, but it isn't the best quality, but you'll get the idea.

Thank you Aunt Loise and Uncle Jim. I like my outfit and it fits now!

Sick...again

So, we are sick again in our house. I took Jacob to the doctor Friday because he didn't sleep at all Thursday night without us holding him and he was really fussy. He is such a good baby that when I couldn't put him down at all on Friday I knew something was wrong. I was hoping that he did have something wrong (don't judge me yet...keep reading!) because then there would be a reason for his fussiness and we could fix it. Well, he has an ear infection. He is on medicine and doing pretty good. He hold his ear a lot. My favorite is when he holds it and is laughing at us...it is just too cute! I have a few more chores to do before Adam gets home, so I'll post pictures later.

Pictures, pictures, pictures!

My little man is growing so fast. He seems so big. Every time I think that he really is getting huge, I gain some perspective (I just saw pictures of a 7 week old that could give Jacob a run for him money) and realize that he is still my little man.

He is changing so much and it is fun to watch him learn things. He is reaching for things now. He hasn’t quite figured out how to grab things (he sometimes does it, but I don’t think he knows how he did it), but he reaches his arm out towards things. He reaches for my face when I am talking to him and it is too cute.

I have lots of pictures to catch you up on and stories to go with each, so bear with me as this is going to end up being a long post. Enjoy the pics!

Mom bought him 2 hats and sun glasses. Here he is doing a fashion show of his new stuff. He seems to like the hats (I keep on downstairs to put on him whenever we go outside since it is super sunny these days) and he didn’t really like the sunglasses.

These are his “who me?” faces. Too cute!

He is adorable when he sleeps. Micah took the one of me sleeping with him. We were supposed to be packing (it was the Friday before we moved), but he had not been sleeping well that week and I couldn’t stay awake any longer. I love naps on the couch with him…I hope it doesn’t spoil him too much!

These are more pictures of him the Friday before we moved. He was supposed to be napping. Does he look like he was sleeping?!? I don’t think he got the memo.

Helping to pack the day before we moved!

Just about every morning around 6am, he gets put in bed with us on his belly. Now I know that he could then get used to that and I don’t want our kids sleeping with us, but he starts to stir and he is not ready to get up and this is the quickest way to get him back to sleep. He was just too cute sleeping exactly like his daddy that I just had to take some pictures.

My dad lives on a lake and Jacob loves being outside. This is one of the first days that we went out and just sat by the lake (we were chit-chatting with our favorite neighbor, Melanie). There was a cool breeze coming off the water and Jacob was tired and as always, oh so cute!

This one is for his great-gramma. He likes his lamb. This lamb has spent more time with me than with Jacob. When I had Jacob, I had Adam’s mom bring it to the hospital so that I could get my smell on it and then put it in with Jacob. Well, I was very emotional and would cuddle with it at night when I slept and he kept me company when my arms were aching for Jacob. Poor Jacob; his lamb never made it in with him in the hospital, but he likes cuddling with him now that I’m sharing it with him.

Well, that is the short update. We are still unpacking and getting settled. Hopefully soon we will take Jacob swimming for the first time in the lake…maybe we will have time for that on Saturday. Today Jacob ran a 101 degree fever around lunch time and had a 99.5 fever at 3:30. He has been more fussy when he got tired, but has been acting normal besides that. He has been harder to console when he was fussy. I called the doctor and am waiting for a call back. I guess I’m going to be taking him in tomorrow. Hopefully it isn’t anything, but it might be his ears. Poor little man. He just hasn’t been 100% since he first got congested. Please pray that God will fix our baby boy. Also, Adam’s birthday is Monday, just FYI.

And HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY Uncle Thomas – Love Jacob

How Smart are You?

I scored 18!

This is quick, easy and fun. How smart are you? What did you score? Take the test and then answer the poll to the left with your score. Happy thinking (DON'T CHEAT)!!!

Pictures are on their way...hopefully!

Tomorrow I have off of work, so I hope to post pictures as I am way behind. We finally got our computer connected to the internet...now to find the camera cord, hmmmm....

Jacob is FABULOUS and just too adorable. He is developing such a personality. I love his many faces. He has this smile that is so flirty and cute. Now if I could only get him to let me take a picture of it! I don't have many smiling pictures of him because whenever he sees the camera he is mesmerized by it and stops smiling.

This morning I had an invaluable lesson in parenting. I'll share more tomorrow; it was pretty funny. All I have tomorrow is to design baby shower invitations and tiddy up the house, so I should get to it, but who knows...Jacob might have an agenda of his own for the day!
