Discovery

My little man is getting so big. He is 7 months old and growing and learning every day. He can eat both of his feet now! He constantly has something in his mouth. We are staying busy between work, church and keeping up with Jacob (hence the lack of posts and even more so the lack of pictures!). It is fun and tiring, but there is nothing I would change.

Jacob rolls everywhere. We put him on the bed with pillows all around him to keep him from rolling off the bed. Yesterday, he "jumped" over his pillow barricade and got stuck. I guess I can't do that much longer.

He is eating great. He hasn't met a single food that he didn't like. He really wants to eat and drink whatever we have and is constantly grabbing at things. As he gets more active, he is quickly learning what "no" means and is starting to recognize mommy's "stern" voice.

We moved him to his crib last Saturday (it was his 7-month-old birthday present!) and he is doing pretty good. We go in around 4am-6am when we hear him stirring and put him on this belly. He only rolls to the left in his crib so he gets stuck. He still has his moments when he doesn't want to sleep at night or tries to get up too early (this morning he tired to get up too early - he was fussing and crying, but his eyes were closed - he was confused on what he wanted).

Now for the title of the post: Jacob discovered his "pirates" (that is what a good friend of mine's child called their privates and I love it!). Adam was changing his diaper yesterday and he just stuck his hand down and grabbed on tight (and didn't flinch!) and of course I told him to stop, but Adam said not to be so concerned. He has only done it once since and hopefully he will not do it again...it makes me uncomfortable.

Oh, and I have decided that I MUST, for the sake of Jacob, have more children one day. I have WAY too much love for him and need more children so that I can spread the love around. If I don't have any more kids, I don't think Jacob will survive me. Good thing we are planning on having more one day (3 more...right, Adam?!? haha, we'll see about that!).

In case of hurricane...

...come to Zellwood and we can feed you!

I buy only a few things at Wal-Mart. I hate that store. They stock in the middle of the day, it is dirty, it is crowded (and I don't like people!) and it just makes me cranky, but they have cheap baby stuff...especially baby food. For those of you who grocery shop there, you are my heroes!

Poor Jacob. He ate no baby food yesterday because I was almost out and was rationing it. I went today to stock up - and I mean stock up! Since I don't like going, I got a ton (and now I don't have to get any more for at least a month if not longer!). I got 116 individual containers!
(Now is not the time to tell me that they have them cheaper somewhere else or you have this fabulous coupon. We have hardly touched the money we have budgeted for Jacob for the month of July, so I was spending it since we had it this month! I hardly shop anymore so it was fun to buy a bunch of things - even if it was just baby food...and you know I loved organizing all of those containers!!!!!!!)

So, if we have a hurricane...come on over and I can feed you. It might not taste the best, but I have plenty!
The packages after I opened everything.

My well-stocked "pantry" for Jacob.

Texting

OK, so my brother texts ALL THE TIME! It is insane. Guess how many texts he sent last month. Vote on in the poll on the left. I'll post the correct answer soon!

Sleep Glorious Sleep...

Jacob and I slept until almost 9am this morning! It was fabulous!!!!

Jacob is doing great. I wanted to update our beach pictures today so that you can enjoy the rest of the trip, but I lent my camera out and forgot to upload the pictures first, so maybe that will happen Friday.

Jacob is over the spitting thing. He does it every once in a while, but not all the time like he first did...now he growls. It is too cute, except in church! He is sleeping good. He spent his first night in his own room (well, it is really Micah's room) on Thursday night and did great! I cried a little (I'm so smitten with him and WAY more overprotective than I ever thought or wanted to be), but he did perfect and slept through the night. He is congested, but sleeps well if we have his bed evaluated and the humidifier on. Well, he just woke up from his nap and is growling for me to get him...hopefully more later!

Is Your Baby a Racist?

OK, so this is pure craziness! I heard about this on The View the other morning while I was feeding Jacob. Basically, there is a study that was done and it found that if your baby says "yuck" when you feed him/her a certain food, then they are a racist. Craziness! I found this posting by Jim Daly on this blog in response to this study. Although I LOVE steamed broccoli, I completely agree with him!

We are Home!

We made it home! Jacob did OK in the car. He had a really stinky diaper that caused us to stop for lunch early. He then fell asleep, had a 10min screaming fit, then fell back asleep, then screamed for 15min and we pulled over and I fed him and then he just played the rest of the way home.

It is good to be getting back to normal. Jacob has slept through the night since we have been home which has been wonderful. I got less sleep on vacation then I normally do at home! I'm glad to be getting a full nights sleep again!

I have the rest of the pictures to get up. We couldn't get on the internet this weekend so hopefully that will work now and I can get the rest of the adorable pictures up for you to enjoy!

New Links on the Left

We are still having a good time at the beach. Yesterday was a fun day in the sun. I finished book #1 out of 4 that I brought - having a baby at the beach takes a lot more time than I thought it would. =)

Jacob's Aunt Juli and Uncle Thomas took him swimming in the pool and then up to the room for a bottle while Adam and I stayed down at the beach. It was nice and relaxing. Jacob met a little girl who was 2 days older than him and he was a little bigger than she was! She really like his crab float (see pics from first day) and her grandparents liked how it supported him and he didn't flop forward like she did (she had the typical yellow baby float - I couldn't find that at Target so I got him his crab and LOVE it. I would HIGHLY recommend getting one. It was only $12 and worth every penny. It supports him and has a protective canopy).

I will post pictures later. I wanted to let you know about 2 new links on the side. One of the ones lets you subscribe to our blog and you will get an email every time I update it. The other one is a link to our Picasa Picture Page. You can view the pictures I put up there (I put a bunch more on there than I did on the blog) and download high-res versions of the pictures. Grammas, that means you can print better pictures of our little man. I hope to update that when I dump any pictures off of my camera; that way you can see or print all of the pictures I take of the little man. I hope that that makes sense (I'm tired this morning!).

Well, Jacob is spitting and fussing and spitting and fussing - time to get ready, get his belly good and full and head down to the beach where hopefully he will take a good long nap (pray for us as he hasn't napped well since Tuesday and hasn't slept through the night without needing to be tended to since Sunday night - I'm tired! Hopefully he will get back to normal when we get back home). I miss all of you and am looking forward to showing off how much Jacob has grown!

5am and Pictures

Ok, so I just wrote this and then the internet crashed and I lost it so hopefully I'll remember everything.

Jacob was up at 5am this morning with a stuffy nose. He wasn't too happy about it. We plunged him and then I feed him and he went back to sleep until about 8am and then Adam got up with him. Adam is so wonderful. I got to sleep until 930!

Jacob is doing great. He loves sleeping on the beach. I think his 3 favorite things are eating, sleeping and being outside - so he is a happy camper!

He has had a lot of firsts this week:
- first time at the beach
- first time in the pool
- first time in a hot tub (the pool is cold)
- first time eating watermelon (he enjoyed sucking on it)
- first time eating puffs (we are going to wait on that for a little; he kept choking)
- first time seeing fireworks (we went to a local park last night to watch)
- first time eating sand
- first time in the ocean (just his feet; it is cold)

I have a TON of pictures. I'm going to break them up by day and post them. So scroll down to see them all. I put them each in a slide show...either refresh the page to get to the beginning of the next show or click "view all images". Enjoy!
